Role purpose
As a Senior Client Manager, you will lead the delivery of a high-quality, proactive service to a portfolio of clients, helping them make informed decisions and achieve the best outcomes for their business. You will combine strong technical ability with sound judgement, commercial awareness and a genuine commitment to building positive relationships.
This is a senior role within the firm, with responsibility for supporting clients, developing team members and contributing to the continuous improvement of our systems, service offering and client experience as part of our senior leadership team. Key responsibilities
- Lead service delivery to a portfolio of clients, ensuring they receive the high standard of service, support and advice we are committed to providing.
- Build strong, positive relationships with clients, acting as a trusted adviser and a consistent point of contact.
- Deliver proactive tax planning support, including reviewing projected profits, calculating projected tax liabilities and identifying relevant planning opportunities.
- Research tax matters thoroughly using the resources available to us, providing clear, practical and effective advice to clients.
- Support clients in structuring transactions in a tax-efficient and commercially appropriate way.
- Review and finalise tax returns, considering the options available and identifying the most appropriate and tax-efficient outcome for each client.
- Work closely with clients and their wider team of trusted advisers to deliver a joined-up, proactive service.
- Build positive relationships across the team, supporting and developing others so they can be the best they can be.
- Provide effective line management, including day-to-day support, development, feedback and performance management.
- Work closely with the leadership team to improve our service offering, systems and processes, helping us deliver a better experience for clients and a stronger working environment for the team.
- Use our proposal tools to prepare fee quotes and engagement letters, tailoring service schedules appropriately for specific work and ensuring scope, responsibilities and risk are clearly understood and managed.
- Develop a broad awareness of Xero to better understand clients’ businesses and relate to their day-to-day challenges.
- Liaise with clients and third parties to obtain information and documentation needed to carry out work effectively and efficiently.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required in line with the level and responsibilities of the role.
What we are looking for
- Strong experience in managing a portfolio of clients within an accountancy or tax-focused environment.
- Confident technical knowledge in tax compliance and tax planning, with the ability to apply that knowledge in a practical way.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships with clients, colleagues and external advisers.
- Experience of reviewing work to a high standard and exercising sound professional judgement.
- Experience of supporting, developing and line managing team members.
- A proactive and organised approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
- Commercial awareness and a genuine focus on delivering value to clients.
- An awareness of cloud accounting systems, particularly Xero, and how they are used by clients in practice.
